8 Bit Darkness

8 Bit music.
It brings to mind old school Nintendo games and computer nerds.  This 8 Bit composition, however, is far more sinister.  Imagine a video game where you play the character of Count Grishnackh and your mission is to successfully stab the wicked, black hearted man-demon Euroymous twenty-some odd times until you defeat him and make your escape back to the Norweigan wilderness with your accomplice evading local law enforcement all the while.  Black metal indeed.

Hanging out in Haiger

Darkthrone yet again.
Best black metal band of all time.  Period.  Shut your stupid mouth, you stupid dummy.

Les Discrets

The French.  What have they given the world?  Fancy food, wine, body hair, Utah Beach, specialized kissing methods, bread, braids, dips, and Les Discrets.  There is nothing else out there quite like it.  Blackened, goth, metal, rock, ambient beauty.  Their webpage is chock full of info and artwork.  Check it out.

Make a Change...

Make a Change...Kill Yourself.  An amazing band.  An amazing record.  I don't know anything about them other than the fact that their music makes me sad.  In a good way.  I just downloaded this record and it is incredible.  Listen to it while you are alone in the dark with a rusty razor blade in your hand.  Go ahead and make a change...

Silencer

Silencer.  A bizarre act hailing from Sweden.  The vocalist is a fellow who goes by the name Nattramn.  There is a lot of speculation surrounding Silencer, even more so surrounding Nattramn.  He is rumored to have cut his own hands off while recording the album Death, Pierce Me.  He is rumored to have replaced said hands with pigs feet.  He is also rumored of attacking a five year old girl with an axe, only to be apprehended by the police and committed to a mental asylum.  Whether these rumors are true or not, they certainly lend to the disturbing nature of this album.  "The Slow Kill in the Cold" from Death, Pierce Me.

Weird shit indeed

Art

The art bug has bitten me again.  Here is some crap I drew last night.

Drawing by Vis

Shining

It's been awhile but I am back.  I know this is exciting for all zero of you who actually look at my blog but whatever.  It is late, I am tired and I really, really love this band.  From the album Halmstad.

Autumn's Ablaze

Autumn's Ablaze by the Irish band Primordial.  This is one of the first black/folk/pagan metal songs I remember listening to that really moved me.  I dare call it musical perfection.  Perfect for listening to on cold fall nights with the fire blazing and the jack o' lanterns grinning their wicked orange grins.  The pungent smell of wood smoke saturating the chilly night air...

Fallen

I downloaded the latest Burzum album "Fallen" on iTunes the other day.  Needless to say, I think this is Varg's best record since "Filosofem".  Regardless of his political and moral view points, Varg makes some very compelling music.  Here is "Valen".

Rapture?

Unfortunately the end of the world did not happen yesterday as it was predicted.  I wonder when somebody is going to get it right.  I'm tired of being mislead and misinformed.  All day yesterday I sat in front of my TV with my rifle and survival pack, waiting for the news that the end had started.  It never came.  I was really looking forward to watching everyone around me get raptured.

Don't go down there...

The incredible photography of Joshua Hoffine.  Nightmares captured on film.

Hobo with a Shotgun

Hobo with a Shotgun.  Directed by Jason Eisener and starring Rutger Hauer.  I watched this movie last night and it blew me away.  Part 70's grindhouse, part 80's cheesiness, all violent vigilante nastiness.  A hobo rolls into town on a train, looking to scrape up enough money to buy a lawnmower.  However he happens to roll into the most fucked up, corrupt, disgusting city imaginable, full of druggies, hookers, pedophile Santas, murderers, weirdos and scumbags.  The hobo finally snaps and takes the law into his own hands, utilizing, yeah you guessed it, a shotgun.  He systematically begins to clean the streets of the rancid vermin he despises and saves the city from an evil overlord.  Tons of blood and over the top violence are the icing on the cake in this visually stunning film.  I give it 8 out of 10 shotgun blasts to the cranium!  Trailer below.

And now ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Conway Twitty...

This is one of the best metal overdubs I have found.  Throw up the country horns!

Every time an emo kid cries...

Great picture, misspelled words and all.

Heavy

I've been really digging on this band recently.  Electric Wizard.  Heavy as hell down tuned guitars.  Crushing riffs.  Sounds like metal to me.  Here is "Funeralopolis" off their album, Dopethrone.

Surfing with Satan

It's kind of like cold pizza and milk.  Not something you would ever consider mixing together, but somehow it works.  Black metal and surf rock.  Somehow it just works.

Grave Encounters

I stumbled across this lovely little trailer while trolling my way around You Tube.  Looks like another Blair Witch-Paranormal Activity-"found footage"-this could be real but it's probably not knock off.  It makes me wish stuff like this would happen on Ghost Hunters.  Then I wouldn't have to waste an hour of my life just to hear a crappy EVP.  I like the dead chick at the end.

Surtur Rising

Those crazy Swedish vikings are about to release their new Amon Amarth album Surtur Rising.  March 29th is the expected date.  I can't wait to put this on and run around the front yard swinging a sword and scaring the neighbors.  Check out their song "War of the Gods".  Hail!

Flesh Eater

I just bought the Shriek Show DVD release of Flesh Eater aka, Revenge of the Living Dead.  The film was made in 1988 and stars Bill Hinzman of Night of the Living Dead fame.  I haven't had a chance to sit down and watch it yet but I am really excited to see some 80's zombie gore cheesiness.  Keep an eye out for my review of the film in the next few days.  Trailer and Shriek Show link below.

Crushed by the Cosmos

Darkspace is an ambient black metal band hailing from Switzerland.  I have only recently discovered them so I don't know a whole lot about them.  I do know they forego the traditional satanic/hate theme in favor of the bleak brutality of outer space.  Below is the track 1.2 from their first full length album.  Sit back, turn off the lights, and let the cosmos crush your soul.

Enlightenment

Depressive black metal is an interesting genre.  Very atmospheric and epic, yet sad.  One of the better depressive bands, in my opinion, is Totalselfhatred.  Based out of Finland, they bring a heaviness that you don't often find in black metal much less depressive black metal.  Below is the opening track "Enlightenment"  off their self titled debut album.

Dead

Dead.  The late legendary vocalist for Mayhem.  Born Per Yngve Ohlin, this Swedish individual is widely regarded as the greatest black metal vocalist of all time.  He was rumored to bury his clothes in the ground and dig them up before shows for that vintage grave yard scent, as well as breathe from a plastic bag containing a dead bird while on stage.  Dead's bizarre exploits are borderline mythical these days.  Unfortunately for us he died by is own hands in April of 1991, slit wrists and a shotgun blast to the head.  On that fateful day in April, he truly became Dead.

The Dungeon Shaker

Yet another selection from my beloved Darkthrone.  The Winds They Called the Dungeon Shaker.  Frickin' amazing song.

Welcome to Hell

A great song by Darkthrone.  Kathaarian Life Code off their classic album Blaze in the Northern Sky.  Very cold and dark.  Enjoy.
